dyson vacuum reviewsYou probably wonder why I decided to write this blog.  Well, when I first started thinking about buying a new vacuum cleaner I went online to find some good reviews.  Problem was I couldn’t find any.  There were plenty of reviews but none of them were very current or any good.  So I decided to create this review blog on Dyson vacuums to help people who find themselves in a similar position.

Just to be clear, I am going to cover both the positive and negative points.  So if you have already decided to purchase a Dyson and don’t want to hear anything bad about them, then you might just want to leave now.

Dyson Vacuum Reviews Top Pick

The winner is the Dyson DC25 Upright Ball Vacuum.  This model comes in both the All-Floors and Animal versions. The Animal version is aimed at people who have problems with pet hair.  It is slightly more expensive because it includes an additional mini turbine head attachment to help remove pet hair from your carpet and upholstery.  If you don’t have pets just get the All-Floors model.

The Dyson DC25 has Root Cyclone Technology combined with an impressive 220 constant air watts of suction power.  What does this mean?  It means great performance.  The reason is because this patented Dyson technology literally created a mini cyclone inside your vacuum cleaner and slings the dirt and debris out of the airflow and into the clear dust bin.  So you don’t need bags which tend to decrease suction as they fill up.

The DC25 also uses the trademarked Dyson ball technology which provides unparalleled maneuverability by eliminating the limited back and forth motion of other vacuum cleaners.  This means you will spend less time and effort, move around obstacles more easily, and have fewer missed angles.

This model also includes the lifetime washable HEPA filter that removes over 99% of harmful small allergens like pet dander, pollen, dust mites, and bacteria.  It was even certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

The 2 most common complaints with the Dyson DC25 are that it’s too expensive and the cord is too short.  I think you get what you pay for, and Dyson makes models both more and less expensive than this one.  But don’t forget the cost of this unit is greatly offset by the savings you will receive by never having to purchase expensive replacement filters or bags.  And I have never seen a vacuum that had a long enough cord.  They are always too short.

Dyson Vacuum Reviews Alternatives:

Dyson DC24

When Dyson Vacuum Reviews looked at the Dyson DC24 we felt like it was the little brother to the DC25.  In theory it’s a good idea.  It still has all the benefits of Root Cyclone Technology and the great maneuverability of the Dyson Ball.  And it even includes the washable HEPA Filter.  All in a package that is 12″ shorter and 4 1/2 lbs lighter than the DC25.  And it costs less.

Unfortunately the DC24 only has about half of the suction power of the DC25 and just over half the bin capacity.  For these 2 reasons alone I would go with the Dyson DC25, unless weight or a modest price savings are extremely important to you.  See my full Dyson DC25 review page for more advantages of the DC25.

Dyson DC28 Animal

The DC28 Animal used to be the top of the line and most expensive of the Dyson vacuums.  Although it has a slight advantage in power over the DC25, it lacks the Dyson ball technology.  This unit weighs a whopping 9 lbs more than the DC24 and is extremely heavy.  A difficult machine to maneuver with the extra weight and lack of the Dyson ball.  What the DC28 does have is enormous bin capacity and great cord length.

I think this unit might be better suited to commercial or industrial use, where weight and maneuverability are not as important and the oversized bin capacity and cord length could be utilized.  Bottom line is I think the additional power over the DC25 is marginal and not enough of a factor to overcome the negatives of this machine for most people’s needs.

Final Conclusion

The Dyson Vacuum Reviews Top Pick is still the Dyson DC25.  It has the best of all the Dyson models rolled into one easy to handle unit that really performs well and is priced right.  There’s good reason this model gets more positive customer reviews than any other vacuum on the market.

Dyson DC25 Review

This is a more detailed Dyson DC25 review, for those who really want to know what makes this incredible vacuum cleaner perform at such a high level.  This Dyson Vacuum Reviews blog is going to tear apart the technology to discover if this model actually delivers any real world benefits for the average user.

What Exactly Is Root Cyclone Technology?

dyson vacuum reviewsMost vacuums work by pushing air through a paper bag or some type of filter, which is actually just a controlled clog.  As the bag or filter fills up it becomes more and more clogged, which results in a corresponding loss in suction and performance.

Dyson’s Root Cyclone Technology is different.  It uses centrifugal force to pull the dirt from the air.  It actually has 3 different stages, each capable of pulling out even smaller particles.  While researching these Dyson vacuum reviews I discovered that the inner stage or core cyclone actually has the force of 100,000G’s.  Believe it or not that’s about 20,000 times more force than a roller-coaster.

What this means for you is that since it doesn’t push air through a slowly clogging filter, there is no gradual reduction in suction or performance typical in most other vacuums.  The Dyson vacuums powerful motor maintains a consistent amount of strong suction power.

What Can a Dyson Ball do for Me?

dyson dc25 reviewWhat I learned while writing this Dyson DC25 review is that it’s all about steering and maneuverability.  By designing the vacuum to ride on a single large polypropylene ball it allows you to rotate the vacuum in any direction at any time.  It’s impossible to explain until you actually try it.  No more back and forth motion wasted covering ground you already covered.  No more missed angles or spots because your old-fashioned vacuum just doesn’t want to maneuver easily.

And to make steer and maneuver even easier still, they put the powerful motor inside the Dyson ball to lower the center of gravity.  It’s pure genius.  By locating the heaviest component so close to the ground it makes this vacuum incredibly easy to use.

Do I Need an Animal?

Most Dyson vacuum reviews only focus on the Dyson DC25 Animal and fail to even mention the Dyson DC25 All Floors model.  And the great news is both models feature the lifetime HEPA filter system that has been certified asthma & allergy friendly according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.  And Dyson is the only vacuum manufacturer to have their own microbiology lab where Dyson researchers work full time learning new methods for removing bacteria, dust mites, allergens, and pollen from your home.  The air coming out of a Dyson actually has 150 times less mold and bacteria than the air in your home.

So why pay extra for the Animal model.  Do you have pets?  Hairy pets that shed.  If you do you might want to spend a little extra to get the mini turbine head that comes with the Dyson DC25 Animal.  It is specially designed to suck up pet hair in tight or small spaces like on the stairs, your upholstery, or even your car.

What’s Not to Like?

By far the two most common complaints I found while researching this Dyson DC25 review, were that the power cord was too short and that the price was too high.  The power cord is 24.6 feet which is about average for most vacuum cleaners.  But no matter how long they always seem just a little too short.  As for the price, this is not a cheap machine.  But if you want quality and performance you are going to have to pay for it.  Just keep in mind that the initial price will be offset considerable by years of savings by not having to purchase bags or HEPA filters.  Since all Dyson’s are bagless and the HEPA filters are lifetime washable.

Dyson DC25 Review Final

If everything you have read so far has not convinced you that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread, then I have more.  I hope you have enjoyed this Dyson Vacuum Reviews report on the DC25.  But just to put the icing on the cake I have to mention a few extra features. Both of the DC25′s include a motorized bristle brush bar to help pull hair and dirt from your carpet.  They also include a trademarked Quick-draw telescope reach wand for easy high reach vacuuming and a 5 year parts and labor warranty.

Oh, and I almost forgot the clear hygienic dust bin that empties quick and easily from the bottom to prevent contact with the contents.  What more could you want?
